Warriors Raid Wellesley Soccer

On September 9, the Brookline Warrior’s beat the Wellesley Raiders 1-0 at Skyline Park.

After a grueling opening week of soccer, the Warriors improved their record to 2-0-2 after punishing the Raiders in the forty-second minute of the match.  Zak Pesetsky netted the only goal of the game when he received a perfectly placed pass behind the Raider’s defense, from Seth Coven, a few yards outside the eighteen.  As the Raider’s goalkeeper slowly came off his line to block the shot, Pesetsky recognized the goalie’s position and chipped the ball over the keeper’s head and into the back of the net.

The Raiders, however, proved once again to be a tough match for the Warriors as they used their speed and agility to break through the Warrior defense on multiple occasions.  However, through the leadership of center back Theo Yannekis and goalkeeper Edmund Geschickter, the Raiders could not find their moment of glory to score and tie up the match.

The Warriors continues their quest for a playoff berth on Friday afternoon where they will duke it out with Bay State League powerhouses, Needham High School at Skyline Park at 4:00 pm.
